Restaurant License (Food License) Service in Bangkok, Thailand
Thailand is well known as a tourist destination and food paradise. If you are involved in restaurant business whether be in small or big, restaurant license or a food license becomes compulsion for you. There are two types of permission granted to restaurants according to the size of the restaurant.
Food license (Restaurant license):
If you are operating a restaurant with an area of more than 200 square meters you will need to apply for restaurant license or Food license at the local district office where your restaurant is located.
Notification certificate:
If you are operating restaurant business with an area of less than 200 square meters then application of notification has to be filed with respective district office where your restaurant is located.
Process for application of food license at district office
- At PNP International Legal, we will assist you with preparation of all the government forms along with the required documents to be submitted to district office. Our legal team member will go to district to submit the documents on your behalf.
- All of or some of your staffs will have to go to district office to take food hygiene test. Number staffs to go for the test differs from district to district. The test mainly focuses on the maintenance of cleanliness and hygiene of the restaurant. The staff or staffs who go for the test will have to go for medical check up as well as per the form prescribe by District office.
- We will follow up with district office for an appointment for them to come and inspect your restaurant premises.
- Upon satisfactory inspection and compliance of documents food license is issued for 1 year and has to be renewed on yearly basis before it expires.
The whole process of application might take a little more than 1-month time period depending of factors like appointment for inspection, condition of restaurant and so forth.
Following documents has to be prepared for license application
- Completely filled out application.
- Company affidavit with shareholder list updated within six months
- House registration of the building where restaurant is being operated.
- Landlord documents mainly:
- Lease agreement affixed with duty stamp
- Letter of consent
- Copy of ID card of land lord
- Copy of House registration of landlord
- Building certificate (differs on case to case basis depending on district office)
- Location map of restaurant
- Photos of the restaurant interior, exterior, staffs working with gloves, apron and kitchen hat.
- Copy of ID Card of the authorize director of the company.
Government fee depends on area of restaurant not exceeding 3,000 THB.
Other License to consider
Alcohol License:If you are selling alcohol in your restaurant then you need to apply for alcohol retail license as well. The alcohol license can be applied with local excise department. While applying you should be careful about the location of your restaurant. The restaurant should not be near proximity to educational institutions, temples or hospitals.
